Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the university. Among other duties, it appoints the president, votes on capital improvements and makes final decisions about University investments.
Along with the university president, the Board of Directors governs according to the university's bylaws and has the power to grant "any degree in the faculties, arts, sciences, and liberal professions" under the authority of a charter passed by Congress in 1815.

Board of Governors
The Board of Governors is the leadership body of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, a 501(c)(3) organization. The board is charged with establishing and reviewing policies and governing procedures regarding all Alumni Association business as well as serving as a channel for alumni engagement and feedback.
There are 120 active members of the board, consisting of alumni of all class years, regions, schools and programs. This total includes appointed governors and student governors from all schools, in addition to the elected governors and senators. Governors are elected by a vote of all alumni to serve a three-year term beginning July 1 of their elected year. These volunteers represent alumni by providing direction to the university's alumni relations programs and by advising the president and board of directors on matters of importance to alumni.
The Board of Governors meets several times each year and has five officers: president, president-elect, executive director, treasurer and parliamentarian.

Board of Regents
The Georgetown University Board of Regents serves as the university's senior ambassador corps. In addition to providing counsel to the president and university administration, the Board of Regents helps lead philanthropic support for the university and its initiatives. Their intimate connections to potential Georgetown supporters through personal and professional associations help to advance the university's reputation, as well as to educate others to galvanize support for Georgetown.
As one of three university-wide boards, the Board of Regents also interacts regularly with the Board of Directors, the university's governing board, and the alumni association's Board of Governors, to facilitate communication and collaboration among the advisory bodies.

African-American Advisory Board
The African-American Advisory Board works to ensure the necessary inclusion of African-Americans in all sectors of the Georgetown University community; foster communication and networking among African-American students, alumni, faculty and staff; and act as key advisors on policies and procedures that will positively impact the African-American experience at Georgetown.
Additional goals of the board include:

Demonstrating a sustained commitment to the recruitment of and outreach efforts to African-Americans and other students of color in partnership with the Undergraduate Admissions Office and the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA)

Providing administrative and financial support to campus events with the goal of securing funds for scholarships and bringing alumni of color back to the Hilltop;

Putting into action the recommendations on how to recruit, retain and support a diverse faculty;

Developing leadership and mentoring opportunities for African-American alumni and support the ongoing alumni outreach efforts of the Office of Advancement.

Latin American Board
The Latin American Board (LAB) serves as an advisory board to the president and provost of Georgetown University for Latin American engagement. The LAB seeks to develop and strengthen the relationship between the University and Ibero-America through partnerships and the execution of high impact initiatives on campus and in the region, and is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of the region's most influential leaders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors,
The Latin American Board works both in Washington and in the Ibero-American region to carry out its objectives comprised in three strategic areas:
- Driving Latin American Engagement
- Developing Impact Networks
- Promoting Transformational Leadership

Medical Alumni Board
The Medical Alumni Board fosters engagement and support among alumni of the School of Medicine. The board exists to serve the needs and interests of Georgetown University, the Georgetown University Alumni Association, and the medical alumni community.

Law Alumni Board
The Law Alumni Board serves to create a forum for the exchange of information and ideas relative to the interests and welfare of the Law Center and its alumni.
The board's primary responsibility is to foster alumni support for the Law Center. Accordingly, the Law Alumni Board organizes and promotes Law alumni activities, fosters communications between the Law Center and its alumni; is involved in and promotes fundraising for the Law Center; oversees alumni events on a regional and class basis; and promotes career opportunities for law students. From time to time, the board also offers advice and counsel to the offices, governors, faculty and staff of the Georgetown University Alumni Association and the Law Center.

Parents Leadership Council
The Parents Leadership Council is an advisory and advocacy group whose members serve as ambassadors on behalf of the university, networking with fellow parents and working to expand the philanthropic community supporting Georgetown.
Our students wouldn't be here without parent and family support and encouragement. We want to make sure you are kept informed of both campus goings-on and events that are specially designed for family members.
