WELCOME to the Falkland Islands Defence Force

The Falkland Islands Defence Force (FIDF) is a volunteer force committed to the defence and security of the Falkland Islands.

The FIDF operates from FIDF Headquarters in Stanley, and trains once or twice each week.

The force is manned by volunteers from the local community, supported by a small permanent cadre.

There is one recruitment cycle per year, usually starting at the end of August. Recruitment is open to men and women that are ordinarily resident in the Falkland Islands and who hold a British or British Commonwealth passport.
