Gesellschaft für Musikforschung e.V.

The German Musicological Society (GfM) is the academic association of musicologists based in Germany who carry out academic teaching and research. We offer a forum for information and exchange of ideas for all those interested in concepts and questions regarding Music History, Ethnomusicology, and Systematic Musicology. At present, approximately 1,600 members within Germany and beyond are members of the GfM. The Society also promotes musicological research in collaboration with other academic fields. In addition, one of the prime tasks of the Society is seen in the communication of knowledge in all areas of music to a wider public.

Die Gesellschaft für Musikforschung (GfM) ist der Fachverband der in Deutschland in Studium, Forschung und Lehre tätigen Musikwissenschaftler. Sie bietet allen an Fragen der Musikgeschichte, Musikethnologie und der Systematischen Musikwissenschaft Interessierten ein Forum der Information und des Austauschs. Gegenwärtig gehören ihr rund 1.600 Mitglieder im In- und Ausland an. Die Gesellschaft fördert die musikwissenschaftliche Forschung auch im Dialog mit anderen Disziplinen. Darüber hinaus versteht sie sich als Vermittlungsorgan von Erkenntnissen aus dem ganzen Gebiet der Musik an eine breitere Öffentlichkeit.
