This section is an overview of our free MyJSTOR account and what you can do with it. MyJSTOR allows you to manage citations, read articles for free on your shelf, access purchases and (if you're a librarian) pull usage statistics for your institution.

What a MyJSTOR account can do for you when you already have access

Need to register for a MyJSTOR account? Watch the following short tutorial or read on below.

Why get a MyJSTOR account if you already have access to what you need?

• Depending on your school/society/public library, you may not have access to everything you want. By registering for a MyJSTOR account, you can read three articles every two weeks. Why not supplement your readings for free?

• With a MyJSTOR account you can save your citations to My Lists. 

• If you're a librarian, you'll need a MyJSTOR account to manage your usage statistics. 

• If you ever decide you want to buy a JPASS or an individual article, you'll need an account.

To register you will need to:

1. create a username and password
2. provide an email
3. provide your name

There will be an opportunity to keep yourself logged in and to sign up for news items from JSTOR and/or JSTOR-participating publishers. To opt-in to any of those, you'll need to check the corresponding checkbox. You can start on the registration page. 

My what? My Lists! Or, how to save your citations in helpful chunks.

In JSTOR's last incarnation, you could save citations to your MyJSTOR account and export them to your heart's content. We've recently developed My Lists, an evolving feature that allows you to save citations, export them and organize them into personalized lists. You're probably all like:

How to Use My Lists:

After you make a MyJSTOR account, log in and go to the top left-hand corner of the page. The fourth option from the left is the 'MyJSTOR' tab. You'll want to select the second 'My Lists' option.

Once you're at the 'My Lists' page, find the link in the center of the page (to the right of the menu that includes 'My Profile, My Lists, Shelf, etc) that says 'Create new list.'

Once you select that link, you'll be prompted to name your new list. After you think of a name, click 'Create.'

Now that you've created a list, you'll probably want to search for articles to add to it. You can search straight from the bottom of your list (there's a basic search box there) OR you can go to advanced search. Once you've found an article you want, select the button to the right of your search result labelled 'Add To My Lists.'  

After you select 'Add To My Lists' you'll be presented with a window. The window will show you all the lists you've created. Check the checkbox next to the list you want the citation to be saved under. When you go back to 'My Lists' you'll be able to access your saved citations and export them. 

How to Manage your MyJSTOR Account

You can make administrative updates to your MyJSTOR account, such as email changes or password updates, by selecting “My Profile” from the MyJSTOR drop-down menu in the top-center of the screen. The only exception is your MyJSTOR username. Once you create an account, the username cannot be updated.

Deleting Your Account
If you would like to delete your MyJSTOR account for any reason, please contact JSTOR Support with your request.
