Derbasiyah, Syria – The Assayish forces (security arm of the Democratic Union Party in Syria ‘PYD’) arrested on Friday Sadoun Sino, a Kurdish journalist and correspondent of Orient TV in Derbasiyah city, northeast of Syria.
In mid-July, Sino was for the first time arrested by the Assayish and was released after the PYD-linked forces confiscated his work equipment. However, when the journalist went the Assayish center in his hometown of Derbasiyah on Friday, in an attempt to regain his equipment, Sino got arrested for the second time.
According to Sino’s family members, the Assayish official, Zinar Ali, told the family that he (Sadoun) will not be released until standing before the PYD-led court, a family member of Sino told ARA News.
Recently, the Assayish forces arrested several journalists in areas under their control in northern Syria, including the media activist Sadruddin Kino on July 5, 2014, while covering a demonstration in the city of Kobane (Ain al-Arab) and he was released hours later after confiscating his camera.
They PYD-linked Assayish also detained Malva Ali, editor of Welati news site, in the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah) on July 25, 2014, according to a report by the Committee of Press Freedom in the Syrian Journalists Association for violations against journalists.
The Assayish forces detained Sadoun Sino earlier in July while preparing a report on the situation of service sector in Derbasiyah, where he was accused of working with “a hostile channel” (in reference to the Syrian opposition-linked Orient TV), without official permission.
