The number of tourist visas issued by ROP rose by 85 per cent between 2011 and 2015 while labour visa issuance rose only by one per cent in the same period. The Royal Navy of Oman Vessel (RNOV) Shabab Oman II left Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia on Sunday after docking for refuelling and supplies. It is scheduled to arrive at Suez port in Egypt on Thursday as part of its third international voyage ‘Peace and Friendship Sail’ to the European continent.

Following the ransomware attacks and ‘WannaCry’ virus, which is spreading around the world, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) has said that Oman has a specialised team to deal with such emergencies. ITA said that the team can deal with such cyberattacks in cooperation with concerned entities in the sultanate.
