Registration for National Leadership and Competitiveness Program opens

The Diwan of Royal Court represented by the Institute of Capability Development announced the opening of the registration for the National Leadership and Competitiveness Program (NLCP) on Sunday.
85% rise in tourist visas issued by ROP

The number of tourist visas issued by ROP rose by 85 per cent between 2011 and 2015 while labour visa issuance rose only by one per cent in the same period. Shabab Oman II leaves for Egypt from Saudi

The Royal Navy of Oman Vessel (RNOV) Shabab Oman II left Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia on Sunday after docking for refuelling and supplies. It is scheduled to arrive at Suez port in Egypt on Thursday as part of its third international voyage ‘Peace and Friendship Sail’ to the European continent.
National Measles Vaccination programme begins in Dhofar, Al Wusta governorates

The Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar, on Sunday launched the first phase of National Measles Vaccination Campaign under the patronage of H E Dr Mohammed bin Saif al Hosani, Undersecretary for Health Affairs.
Specialised team monitoring ransomware attacks: ITA

Following the ransomware attacks and ‘WannaCry’ virus, which is spreading around the world, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) has said that Oman has a specialised team to deal with such emergencies. ITA said that the team can deal with such cyberattacks in cooperation with concerned entities in the sultanate.
Fire in Ma’abela building

A firefighting team from the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) doused flames at a house in Ma’abela on Sunday. No injuries have been reported.
Rain brings respite from heat
Muscat -
Rain in several parts of the country on Sunday brought respite from heat. The Directorate General of Meteorology has said that parts of Muscat are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall on Monday.
