Second day of Northern Syria Constituent Assembly conference takes place

GIRKÊ LEGÊ –  The second day of the second Democratic Federalism Constituent Assembly has continued in the town of Rmeilan.girke-civina-meclisa-damzriner-2

The articles of the Social Contract are being discussed by the attendance of the Constituent Assembly co-chairs Mensûr El-Selûm, Hediye Yûsif and 163 council members from Afrin, Kobani, Jazira cantons and Northern Syria.

The conference is also discussing existing councils, canton councils and the executive bodies of provinces, the provincial system and the regional rights and powers along with the peoples councils in towns.

It has been reported that the 163-member council have voted to put in use a new name for the federal system which will be: “Democratic Federal System of Northern Syria”. From its declaration in July 2016, the system had been previously named “Democratic Federal System for Rojava – Northern Syria”.girkelege-giftigo-li-ser-resnivisa-hevpeymana-civaki-berdewame

‘A roadmap for a way out of the Syrian crisis’

Speaking to ANHA, the Arab National Council member Hikmet Hebîb evaluated the second conference which began on Tuesday.

Hebîb stated that the draft of the Democratic Federalism Social Contract was a roadmap for a way out of the Syrian crisis and that all meetings which take place without the real representatives of the Syrian people is bound to be resultless.

Hebîb also noted that the Northern Syria Democratic Federalism project was a project which had come into being with the inner dynamics in Syria, whilst adding that the Syrian people needs to intervene in foreign powers which attempt to deepen the crisis.

The Democratic Federal System Organizing Council Member, Senherîb Bersûm, also spoke to ANHA in relation to the conference, commenting that political and military developments in the region had been evaluated throughout the day.

Bersûm said, “Recently, significant developments have taken place. The subjects which were discussed in the conference especially include the [Syrian] regime taking control in many eastern Aleppo neighbourhoods, the defeat of Palmyra and the Turkish state’s occupation of al-Bab.”girke-civina-meclisa-damzriner-3

Bersûm added that Diplomacy, Social Action and Press committees making up parts of the council had carried out hundreds of meetings in towns and villages where duties to be taken by individuals of the public were discussed. Lastly, Bersûm affirmed that the people of Northern Syria approaches the Federal System project positively.
