The House of Shock – Back, Bigger and Freakier for 2016 New Orleans’ #1 Haunted House Returns for its 24th season, featuring the new Bunker of Torture, the now twice-as-large Laff in the Dark 3D clown head trip, the new House of Shock traveling demon van, new stage show and old favorites NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans-based House of Shock Haunted House is back for its 24th installment – larger, scarier and better-than-ever with new attractions and long-standing classics for the 2016 season. New frights for 2016 include: • The Bunker of Torture – o A torture chamber room, situated in the terrifying haunted house. • Laff in the Dark 3D – now twice the size – o One of last year’s new attractions now packs more clowns and scares than previously imaginable. o An all-out 3D clown assault: a nod to classic funhouses, named after the infamous Pontchartrain Beach Fun House. o The entire exhibition also features floor-to-ceiling 3D paint murals, adding a tinge of kaleidoscopic hallucination to the otherwise depraved clown nightmare. • Brand new stage show – o With new freaks and old favorites, the cutting-edge show includes Lord Belial, sword swallowers, fire breathers, suspension body modifiers, live music, pyrotechnics, and an appropriately deranged House of Shock-take on today’s political climate. • A new nightmare-inducing finale that will knock fans off their feet! • The House of Shock demon van – o Traveling across south Louisiana leading up to Halloween, sharing gifts, prizes and contests deals. Scares come free, too. The Bordello of Freaks, an homage to old-school carny freak shows, returns for 2016 along with The House of Shock’s signature haunted house, renovated to include more madness than ever. Those too petrified to enter can still enjoy amenities, such as the stage show, live music, outdoor television screens, and food and drink specials. Pokémon Go-ers shouldn’t forget to set their lures, as House of Shock is an official Pokéstop – just be warned, they’re more likely to encounter demons than Pikachus! Ross Karpelman, House of Shock founder, notes, “We’re thrilled about this year’s show. The House of Shock has long been a longtime New Orleans Halloween staple, but we’ve really outdone ourselves this year. I’m grateful for the passion that our 350-plus family of volunteers bleeds into our horror attractions. Fans and newcomers alike will be freaked the hell out!” The House of Shock has always been proud to fashion itself and its storylines based on New Orleans’ own rich history of the macabre.
