Based on the British series of the same name, which in turn was based on the book by Michael Dobbs, House Of Cards is the kind of series that immediately grabs attention simply by the nature of who's involved with it. With Fight Club and Se7en director David Fincher behind the camera, and Kevin Spacey leading an excellent cast in front of it, there's a real calibre to the talent here.

The story has changed a little, inevitably, as it now spans 13 episodes. Now set in the US, this take on the story follows Congressman Francis Underwood, played by Spacey, as he uses a mixture of tactics to try and work his way to the top. Set against the political shadows of Washington D.C., it's a gripping drama and an intelligent one, that's fleshed out exceptionally well. The glee, though, comes from seeing just what the underhand Underwood will try next. It's tremendous drama.

The series was originally released in one go via streaming services, but the disc presentation is excellent. Special features are in short supply, but it's the kind of box set that pretty much demands to be devoured. Distinct from the British version, but very much built from the same DNA, this is intelligent television, that just happens to boast Kevin Spacey's best screen role in a long, long time. --Jon Foster

Husband and Wife 'Francis(Frank) and Claire Underwood' are both smooth
and ruthless operators.
'Frank' is a congressman who gets things done....at any cost, he fears no-one,
he is a master manipulator, cross him and your career is over.
'Claire' runs a 'Charity' agency......but, her charity does not extend to loyal
employee's.
In truth, the two understand each other, which is probably why they co-exist.
'Kevin Spacey' lights up the screen with a style all of his own.
This is a brilliant version of this political, and wickedly clever drama.
This a 4-Disc Box-Set of the 13-episode complete first season.
Run-Time - 674 minutes.
(Looking forward to receiving the second-series when released)

A blast for the audience. Premiere of a new netflix series which just has now started in May 2017 into the fifth season.
Picture crystal clear/ oustanding. Wonderful soundtrack from Jeff Beal (2013). The devil itself well played from cast Kevin Spacey. And - ok - even Robin Wright (formerly Mrs Penn) as Claire Underwood has found now her place in the WH in the new 5th season.
Let's hope the producers / writers will be able to find an impressive final ending!
Spoiler alert for season 6: Claire and Frank will try to murder each other but will not succeed and therefore have to go to jail. JUST KIDDING !

House of Cards captivated me from the off. Coming from the UK when I first watched this I couldn't help but wonder how to to life this program was and if so how crazy American politics can be. Spacey is fantastic and the series goes from strength to strength.

This deserve more than five star.

It is a well made television programme. Kevin Spacey at his best. The writing is sharp, engaging and clear, and the characters are interesting and well developed. The editing helps: it is tight and keeps the plot moving briskly, making the political intrigue both exciting and easy to follow.

Looking forward to watching Season 2. I hope Amazon Instant and Prime Instant Video will added to their list.
