Laissez les bon temps rouler! Turner Takes Over the 2017 National Association of Black Journalists Conference

Nearly 3,000 journalists flocked to New Orleans, LA where the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) held their 41st annual conference and career fair.

During the weeklong event, Turner hosted a variety of activities, including a reception honoring NABJ 2017 Journalist of the Year and CNN political analyst, April Ryan, as well as a daylong workshop for promising broadcast reporters and producers. Additionally, Turner Sports’ Charles Barkley participated on the panel “A Conversation on The Intersection of Sports, Social Justice and Activism." Eric Jackson, vice president of content and operations, NBA Digital, offered insight and advice on the importance of mentorship to an audience of young journalists at the "Sports Task Force Mentorship Breakfast."

Recruiting teams across Turner also attended the NABJ’s Career Fair and Exhibition to find great candidates for openings throughout the company, including CNN, Bleacher Report and Turner Sports, as well as offer career search guidance and reel critiques.

Founded in 1975, NABJ is the largest organization of journalists of color in the United States. The organization of journalists, students and media professionals provides training, scholarships and services for attendees and advocates on behalf of black journalists.
