Business model

Change.org is a social enterprise and a certified B Corporation. B Corporations are held to high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency set by B Lab, an independent certifying group.

Our mission is to empower people everywhere to create the change they want to see, and we believe the best way to achieve that is by combining the vision of a non-profit with the flexibility and innovation of a technology startup. This approach allows us to keep our petition tools free and open for everyone.

Our revenue comes from people and organizations contributing in a few different ways.

Memberships

You can join Change.org as a member to help more people around the world win their campaigns, by financially supporting the coaching and free technology to make that happen. In return, you’ll receive unique opportunities to go even deeper into the Change.org experience.

Promoted Petitions

People use Change.org to raise awareness about the most pressing issues in their lives and communities. You can chip in to help specific campaigns, by paying to promote them as advertisements to a wider audience on Change.org.

Fundraising

You can create and support crowdfunding campaigns that advance a petition’s goals. For example, you might start a fundraiser to pay for a flight to meet an elected official or company leader you’re trying to influence, or to print out petition signatures to deliver to them.

Investment

To date, Change.org has raised $50 million dollars to fuel its growth from mission-aligned investors in business, technology and the media including Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Reid Hoffman, Arianna Huffington, Ashton Kutcher & Guy Oseary, Jeff Weiner, Evan Williams, and the Omidyar Network.
