How Google News results are selected
The results you see in Google News, except as noted, are selected by computer algorithms that determine which results are displayed and in what order.
News items chosen by computer algorithms
News results on Google News.
News results in temporary sections for major events, like Elections or Olympics. The topic for a temporary section is chosen by the Google team, but the results are algorithmically selected.
News stories that are Suggested for you. Suggested stories are selected by computer algorithms based on your past activity on Google.
Note: The Editors' Picks section shows articles, graphics, or videos that are chosen by the news organization whose logo appears above the links. Sections might also include links to relevant Google Search results (example: "How to register to vote" in the "Elections" section). These links are chosen by the Google team.
News items in Trending on Google
Trending on Google is an experimental feature available on the iOS app in the UK and Canada English editions. Computer algorithms select results that appear in Trending Searches. The News Lab team at Google selects topics for Featured Insights.
