Replacing the Islamist Hamas group, the Palestinian Authority (PA) began establishing its control over Gaza Strip's border crossing under an Egyptian-brokered reconciliation deal that ended a ten-year phase of Palestinian divisions.

PA employees, according to Reuters, moved into Erez and Karam Abu Salem crossings after Hamas members packed up equipment and departed on trucks.
