To register you will need to:
- create a username and password
- provide an email
- provide your name
There will be an opportunity to keep yourself logged in and to sign up for news items from JSTOR and/or JSTOR-participating publishers. To opt-in to any of those, you'll need to check the corresponding checkbox. You can start on the registration page.
Register & Read or how to read article for free:
Once you’re registered find an article you want. Whether or not you’re logged in, you’ll see a series of buttons to the right of the citation information. If the article is part of Register and Read (our free program), there will be a “Read Online (Free)” button to the right of the article title.
Once you press the "Read Online (Free)" button you'll get a box prompting you to add the article to your shelf. On the left hand side, push the button that says "Add To Shelf."
You'll then be taken to your shelf where you'll be asked if you really want to add the article. Press "Add To Shelf." Once you add content to your shelf, you'll be able to view it as full-text page images. You can always come back to the shelf portion of your MyJSTOR account to find the articles you've saved there.
Once you have added your article to your shelf, you can then read the article by scrolling down the page and clicking "Read Online".
After selecting "Read Online," You will be taken to your article. You can flip through the pages of your article by clicking on the gray navigation arrows to the left and right of the article text:

Depending on your school/society/public library, you may not have access to everything you want. By registering for a MyJSTOR account, you can read three articles every two weeks. Why not supplement your readings for free?

With a MyJSTOR account you can save your citations to My Lists.

If you're a librarian, you'll need a MyJSTOR account to manage your usage statistics.

If you ever decide you want to buy a JPASS or an individual article, you'll need an account.
