Exclusive: Ridley Scott has plans for another Blade Runner sequel: "I've got another one ready to evolve"

Don't mark Blade Runner 2049 as the end of the franchise just yet.

Don't write off the replicants just yet Blade Runner fans, as Sir Ridley Scott has confirmed that he still has a few ideas that he could turn into another film rattling around in his mind.

Although the most recent entry, Denis Villenueve's Blade Runner 2049, didn't exactly win over the box office audiences when it was released last year, Ridley Scott has told Digital Spy that he hopes there's scope for another film.

"I hope so," he said. "I think there is another story. I've got another one ready to evolve and be developed, so there is certainly one to be done for sure."

Well, that sounds pretty positive to us. Let's just hope we don't have to wait 25 years for this idea to be made real then, yeah?

And let's hope whatever comes in just a little shorter than Blade Runner 2049 does too – a film that clocked in at 163 minutes, and even producer Ridley Scott himself acknowledged that it was "f**king way too long".

Before we get any more Blade Runner ideas from the filmmaker though, Ridley has been hard at work on his most recent project All the Money in the World, a dramatisation of the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother Gail to convince his billionaire grandfather to pay the ransom.

The film made headlines even before its release after sexual misconduct allegations were made against one of the film's stars, Kevin Spacey, and Scott made the decision to reshoot the actor's scenes with Christopher Plummer instead.

Former House of Cards star Spacey has since confirmed that he is seeking "evaluation and treatment" following the allegations made against him, and Scott added to Digital Spy that it only took him an hour to decide on his course of action.

"You always have doubts," he said. "But I don't dwell too much any more. First of all I ask myself, 'Can I do it? Yes, I can.'

Christopher Plummer in All the Money in the World

"If I get Plummer, I can do it pretty straight-forwardly and quickly. If these locations are available and the relevant actors are available, yes I can, so that took me about an hour.

"Then I start making phone calls to two or three people, and find out who's available and who isn't. Then, I go and see Chris Plummer."

And it turned out to be a pretty good move, as Plummer's performance in the film has already earned him a Golden Globe nomination, while Ridley himself has earned a Best Director nod too.

All the Money in the World is out in cinemas now.
