Biography
Germaine M. Ortiz was elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders on Nov. 8, 2016 and sworn in on January 4, 2017.
Freeholder Ortiz holds a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish & Communications from Seton Hall University and a certificate in Securities Analysis from the New York Institute of Finance. Upon completion of her degree and certificate, she worked at Dinsmore Capital Management for 23 years where she moved up to be Vice President. She has been married to her husband Willie Ortiz for 23 years and they have two daughters, Alexandra and Daniela.
Freeholder Ortiz moved to Palisades Park where she ran and won a seat on the Board of Education in 1999. After her 2 year term expired, she was elected to the Council from 2001-04. She also served as a Bergen County Utilities Authority Commissioner from 2002-04 and was on the Board of Trustees for Bergen Community College from 2004-12 and 2015-16.
Freeholder Ortiz has always brought a “people first” approach to governing and will continue that tradition on the Board of Chose Freeholders. She brings her financial expertise to help the County of Bergen and its residents ways to save money and maximize investments.
