Release Human Rights Defender Nabeel Rajab

Nabeel Rajab is a brave Bahraini voice and prominent human rights defender.

Nabeel has been in detention since 2016. A prisoner of conscience, he is serving a two-year sentence for TV interviews he gave in 2015 and 2016.

During his time in detention, he spent an excruciating 9 months in solitary confinement, which amounts to torture and ill-treatment.

Nabeel is also on trial simply for tweeting about the war on Yemen and allegations of torture in Jaw prison. He is charged with “spreading false rumours in time of war”, “insulting public authorities” and “insulting a foreign country". If found guilty he faces up to 15 years in prison.

Nabeel’s verdict is imminent: 21 February 2018.

We must mobilize quickly and effectively, before it is too late.

Email the King of Bahrain now, calling on him to free Nabeel - and stop the Bahraini authorities' crackdown on the brave people who speak out for human rights.

Your actions do have impact. Amnesty's online action contributed to the release of Ebtisam al Saegh, another human rights defender in Bahrain. Now we need your support in helping to release Nabeel too.

Your email will be sent to the King of Bahrain Shaikh Hamad bin 'Issa Al Khalifa via the Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
