Wilda Jean Plympton Obituary
Plympton, Wilda Jean 93 Sept. 16, 1920 Dec. 02, 2013 Wilda heard the yodeling and finally joined her beloved husband Don, on Dec. 2, 2013. She passed away peacefully in her home at Nodaway Farm. Wilda Jean Jerman was born Sept. 16, 1920 to Archie and Marie Jerman in Salem. She was raised on an 800 acre hop farm along with younger brother John, where they rode horses and helped out with the hop farm. She met Donald F. Plympton while attending Oregon State College; they were married Oct., 1941. After the birth of daughters Sally and Tia, they moved to Monroe, Lousiana where Don was a flight instructor with the U.S. Air Force. Shortly after returning to Oregon, they purchased their dream property, five acres on the Clackamas River in Oregon City. They spent the rest of their lives developing and landscaping the property into a beautiful estate, entertaining family, friends and neighbors with beach parties, picnics, barbecues, cocktail parties and holiday gatherings. It was here their family grew to include Bill, Peggy, David and Peter all contributing to a very active life style on the river. The property always had an abundance of animals around including horses, llamas, chickens, turkeys, ducks, dogs, cats and turtles all adding to the activities at Rt. 2 Box 805. In addition to raising her family, Wilda was very involved with the Park Place grade School PTA and as charter members of Willamette Valley Country Club, she was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed skiing, bowling and traveling. But her favorite passion was always landscaping, she had a real green thumb for flowers and vegetables and spent many hours perfecting her beautiful gardens. Wilda was also very active at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City. She and Don were active members of the OSU Beaver Alumni Association and enjoyed their season football tickets for many years. They both loved to travel, making many friends around the world. After Don's passing in 2006, Wilda moved to Mary's Woods where she enjoyed a whole new circle of friends and activities. Following a stroke in 2010 she moved to Nodaway Farm where once again she was living on five acres, a blueberry farm with horses and llamas. Wilda is survived by her children, Sally, Tia, Peggy (Terry Casebeer) and Pete (Linda) all of Portland, Bill (Sandrine) of New York City and David (Paula) of Miami, Fla. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. Donations can be made to in her name. A funeral and memorial for Wilda will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at The Chapel of Holy Name at Mary's Woods, 17400 Holy Names Dr., Lake Oswego. Reception will follow the service.
