The Palestinian Liberation Organization’s legislative body denounced Tuesday faction leader Ahmad Jibril, signaling that it would expel him over his alleged role in involving Palestinians in the Syria conflict.

Jibril, head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command, is accused of defying a decision by the Palestinian leadership that Palestinians avoid intervening in internal Syrian affairs.

The Palestinian National Council has said the denouncement implied that it would expel Jibril, and other faction members accused of killing Palestinians during the Syrian crisis, in its next meeting. Expulsion would be based on article 73 of the PNC's internal law.

Thousands of Palestinians have fled Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus amid weeks of fighting between rebels and the Syrian army. Jibril’s PFLP-GC, which has is based in the camp, has fought alongside the latter.

Jibril left the camp days ago, according to rebel sources to Palestine’s Ma’an news agency.

The PNC said it feared government troops would storm the camp and commit massacres, and called on the UN and the international community to intervene and provide urgent assistance to refugees.

Jibril’s alliance with Assad has caused divisions within PFLP-GC, with several central committee members having resigned.

The PNC has penalized Jibril in the past, suspending his membership in 1984 after he fought late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in Tripoli a year earlier.

Good riddance to the shabeeh Ahmad Jibril, even though it is coming from the traitors of the PLO.

"Jibril is known for his courage: he always fought with his men, and always walked in front of them. "

Yes, he was very courageous when he waged war along with the Assadi regime on the Palestinian resistance in Tripoli, one of the many wars that the Assadi regime and its cronies waged on the Palestinian resistance in Lebanon stabbing it in the back, which exposes the hypocrisy of the Assadi regime using the "mumana'a" card in the current uprising.
