What is the Girl Project?

50 million girls around the world are not in secondary school, but they should be.

The Girl Project is a philanthropic initiative of Glamour that aims to unleash the vast economic and social power of girls through education. We are dedicated to ensuring that girls everywhere have access to the quality secondary education they deserve.

Alongside our partners, we take on the big issues that keep girls out of school–poverty, child marriage, civil unrest, bullying, teenage pregnancy, homelessness, and gender-based violence.

Educate A Girl, Change the World

The Girl Project believes that when a girl has access to an education, she can empower herself, her family and her community. One educated girl can change the world. That’s why we support programs in more than 100 countries that provide:

Access

Scholarships, accelerated learning programs, safe transportation

Quality

Teacher training, books, school supplies, gender-sensitive curriculum

Empowerment

Mentorship programs, life skills training, and self-esteem building

Safety

Safe, girls-only learning spaces that are free from conflict and the threat of gender-based assault

What Can I Do?

Training for a marathon? Love to plan parties? Have a crazy good brownie recipe you’re just dying to try? Grab your friends and put your skills to good use by planning a fundraiser to benefit The Girl Project. We’ll keep you updated on a girl who will benefit from your support!

The Girl Project partner, Communities in Schools, paired me with a mentor who made me realize that I deserve to be happy. Now I’m on the track to graduate and I have people in my life who push me and tell me that I can do it. — Kylee, 18
