ACSI Cyclotron Sofia Bulgaria

Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of 24 MeV Cyclotron TR-24

Client: The Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy (INRNE) of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS)

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

Period: 2014-2017

Solution: Cyclotron, Model: TR-24 by Advanced Cyclotron Systems INC. (ACSI)

The project is financed by the US Embassy in Bulgaria and Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant

The establishment of a large-scale cyclotron complex on the territory of the INRNE at BAS is a project of significant national importance and value for Bulgaria.

The project is the first of its magnitude cyclotron project in the country and one of the biggest in Eastern Europe.

The realization of this project places the INRNE among the modern research centers, performing significant RnD activities and preparing key specialists for the field of nuclear physics and nuclear energy.

The project aims also at the research and production of radiopharmaceuticals for the human medicine.

AdvancedBiomarkerTechnologies ABT Bulgaria MSB

Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of a cyclotron complex for the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals

Client: University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “Alexandrovska”

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

Period: 2014- 2015

Solution: Biomarker Generator cyclotron complex with automatic radiochemistry and QC module by Advanced Biomarker Technologies Inc. (ABT)

University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “Alexandrovska” is the oldest hospital and one of the largest in the country.

Alexandrovska hospital is a national university and treatment center with a leading role in the multiprofile treatment, transplantation, dispensary, educational and scientific fields.

The Nuclear Medicine Clinic in Alexandrovska hospital is the largest nuclear medicine unit in Bulgaria and houses the only functioning PET/CT system in this part of the country, that serves thousands of patients per year from all parts of the region.

The installation of the cyclotron complex will ensure the availability of the key radioisotopes for the PET/CT diagnostics, thus optimizing the workflow and efficiency of the unit. This will help the Nuclear Medicine department in Alexandrovska to increase the number of patients and provide better healthcare for them.

LOCCIONI APOTECA BULGARIA

Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of the First Robotic System for Cytostatic IV Solutions in Bulgaria

Client: University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Marina”

Location: Varna, Bulgaria

Period: 2015

Solution: ApotecaChemo robotic system by Loccioni Humancare

The project is funded through the Operational Program “Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy” 2007-2013 and co-funded by the EU through the European Fund for Regional Development

The growing number of cancer cases and the continuous introduction of new drugs for fighting cancer leads to a significant increase in the difficulty of preparation and management of these vital drugs.

The University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Marina” has undertaken a plan for the re-development of this part of its hospital pharmacy through the creation of a modern unit for centralized preparation of cytostatic drugs through the implementation of ApotecaChemo – the First Robotic System for Cytostatic IV Solutions in Bulgaria.

ApotecaChemo completely automates the critical and complex tasks related to the preparation of IV chemotherapeutical drugs. The “robotic workflow” achieves critical optimization for the hospital at many levels, ensuring maximum traceability and quality, as well as safety for both patients and staff.

Somatom Siemens

Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of Imaging Diagnostics Equipment

Client: The Ministry of Healthcare

Beneficiary: Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment „Dr. Tota Venkova“

Location: Gabrovo, Bulgaria

Period: 2014- 2015

Solution: Siemens Healthcare

MRI, Model: MAGNETOM ESSENZA 1.5T

16-slice CT, Model: SOMATOM Emotion

C-arm, Model: SIREMOBIL Compact L

X-ray, Model: Luminos Fusion

The project is realized through the Operational Program “Regional Development” 2007-2013 and co-funded by the EU through the European Fund for Regional Development

Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment „Dr. Tota Venkova“ is a main healthcare canter in Central Bulgaria that serves a population of over 70 000.

The hospital is equipped with modern equipment for imaging diagnostics critical for a facility with such scale.

The realization of the project will improve dramatically the healthcare services for the population of Gabrovo and the neighboring territories.

Cyclotron Bulgaria

Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of a cyclotron complex for the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals

Client: University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Marina”

Location: Varna, Bulgaria

Period: 2013

Solution: Biomarker Generator cyclotron complex with automatic radiochemistry and QC module by Advanced Biomarker Technologies Inc. (ABT)

The Clinic for Nuclear Medicine, metabolic therapy at the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Marina” is the first clinic in the country which performs diagnostics through positron emission tomography by a PET/CT scanner.

Since 2013 the clinic started preparing its own radio-tracers for PET by the first cyclotron complex in Bulgaria installed in its premises.

The Biomarker Generator cyclotron complex allows the preparation of single patient doses of radio-pharmaceuticals, on demand and based on the planned workload for the day. The complex has an integrated, automated radiochemistry and quality control module that facilitate the preparation and release of the end product according to the European Pharmacopoeia.

Currently the cyclotron complex produces patient does of 18F based tracers on a daily bases needed for the PET scans. Thus the hospital manages easily to diagnose 180-200 patients per month through PET.

Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of the latest magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), 3 Tesla

Client: University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Marina”

Location: Varna, Bulgaria

Period: 2015

Solution: Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), 3 Tesla (Siemens)

MAGNETOM Verio, A Tim + Dot, 3 T MRi, installed at the University Hospital in Varna, provides significant comfort for patients with claustrophobia by providing a wider space for the patient and extra features to the camera and room to ensure a pleasant experience during the study.

The study with 3 Tesla MRI provides very early detection of a number of states, and hence more effective treatment. In case of pathological changes, MRI can show the location, size and scope.

The new MRI is widely and highly effective applications in areas such as neurology, orthopedics, cardiology, pediatrics, angiography, oncology, women’s health and more.
