Commission on Geophysical Risk and Sustainability

The Commission on Geophysical Risk and Sustainability (GeoRisk Commission or GRC) is a Union commission of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) dedicated to promoting scientific studies applied to the reduction of risk from natural hazards in an increasingly urbanized world and sustainability and to reducing death and destruction from natural and technological hazards by providing hazards data and information to emergency managers, policy-makers, scientists and the general public in the most timely and effective manner as possible.

Webcyclopedia

One of long-term projects of the Commission
is the Webcyclopedia of Natural Hazards, Risks and Sustainability. Risks are determined by sustainability issues such as infrastructure (building vulnerability, robustness of infrastructure) and health (air quality, water quality, contaminated land). (The webcyclopedia is currently under review for redevelopment.)
