    A very fair question from the head of the press office in SDF. Are US deals today as lasting as a Trump tweet?

    We are not expecting the US to protect NE . But people here are owed an explanation regarding security mechanism deal, destruction of fortifications and failure of US to fulfill their commitments.

    What is insane is that different outcomes were possible: - beefed up safe zone + strengthening local governance; or - negotiated settlement between SDF & Damascus (with US-led coalition strengthening hand of SDF in negotiations)

    US pull out from NE in this way – without any agreement in place – is a disaster. Most pundits focus on ISIS angle. While important, real priority should be locals & their wellbeing. If Turkey attacks, new waves of displacement expected & more instability along euphrates

    Worrying warning by SDF spokesperson. Al-Hawl camp is really an indictment of lack of policy by international community to deal with this issue.

    The situation in al-Hawl camp is deteriorating sharply as Daesh militants have stepped up their regrouping efforts through women in the camp recently. This is going to be very dangerous in future unless governments take responsibility for their citizens.
