Privacy Policy

Here at Radio Dabanga, we respect your privacy. All personal data you provide is handled with the utmost care, remains strictly confidential and will not be passed on to third parties. We process these data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Personal data

This privacy statement applies to the processing of personal data provided by data acquired from visits to and use of our website. By personal data we mean all information about an identifiable natural person (the ‘data subject’). This means information that is directly about a person or can be traced back to this person. With this privacy statement, Radio Dabanga would like to inform you about what personal data we collect for which purposes.

Purposes of data processing

During your visit to this website, Radio Dabanga may collect personal data about you. For example, when you send us a message through our contact form or establish contact with us in another way. We may also collect information that you have shared with us via social media: if you Like us, share posts, participate in a promotional activity or contact us.

Radio Dabanga shall only use these data for the purposes described below:
1. to contact you when you use the contact form on our website.
2. to register web statistics.
3. for the proper fulfilment of the task of the newsroom.

Retention period

Retaining personal data may be necessary for the proper performance of the tasks of the company or to comply with legal obligations. Personal data are not kept for longer than necessary.

When you fill out the contact form on our website or send us an e-mail, then we shall keep and process the name and e-mail address you send us for as long as this is necessary. How long they are kept depends on the nature of the form or the content of the e-mail and the complete answering and handling thereof. In addition we may keep e-mails we receive insofar as this is necessary for the proper execution of our regular activities.

Data from such contacts can also be stored locally in the personal address books of Radio Dabanga employees. Of course we will delete your contact information from our systems on request.

Security

Radio Dabanga has taken physical, technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. We use a secure server that is accessible only to authorised persons. This should prevent personal data being accessed or modified by persons not authorised to do so.
We shall never pass on your personal data to third parties, if this does not explicitly follow our privacy statement. The only exception to this is:

  • if we explicitly request your consent prior to the provision to third parties.

Our website uses a reliable SSL Certificate to guarantee that your personal data do not fall into the wrong hands. We take every measure that can be reasonably expected to arrange security in the best way possible.

Newsletters

When you sign up for our newsletter through Mailchimp, you agree that your e-mail address is stored there and not on our website. Therefore we have signed a data processing agreement with Mailchimp, which is accessible upon request to our e-mail address below. We manage the maintenance of the mailing list on Mailchimp, whereas Mailchimp looks after the management and the security of software for the mailing lists. Every newsletter contains a clear link with which you can unsubscribe.

What they do with the cookies and personal data, can be found in the privacy policy of the service concerned.

Social media

We have buttons for the social networks Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn on our website, so it is easy for you to share information about Radio Dabanga. These buttons are bits of code from the social media themselves, and use a cookie. This cookie remembers that you are logged in so that you do not have to log in every time you want to share something on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.

To see what the social media platforms do with your personal data, you may inspect the privacy statements of Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Facebook and Twitter cookies are only placed if you are logged in to Facebook during a visit and have given your permission. By installing a program such as ‘Disconnect’ for Chrome and Firefox, you can switch off this feature.

In blog articles, content that has been imported from other sources or sites can be used and offered on the Radio Dabanga website. For example, YouTube videos. Just like the social buttons, these codes often use cookies. What they do with the cookies and personal data, can be found in the privacy policy of the service concerned. That is out of our control.

Other activities

For all other activities by the Radio Dabanga Sudan website, we shall ask for as little personal data as possible. If we work jointly with other organisations on campaigns, for example in the European context, we shall insist that a clear privacy policy is conducted.
