Visas

Citizens of many nations are able to enter Austria without obtaining a visa, but it is your responsibility to check. You may find this website useful: https://www.austria.org/do-you-need-a-visa

Nationals of EU member states, the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland do not require a visa for entering the Republic of Austria.

All other nationals require a visa in order to enter the Schengen Area or the Austrian territory. For stays of up to 90 days per 180 days these individuals require a Schengen visa, given that they do not take up employment.

Nationals of countries which signed bilateral or multilateral agreements on the abolition of visa requirement, are visa-free if they stay in Austria for a maximum period of 90 days in any 180-day period and do not take up employment. These countries include Albania, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Georgia, Hong Kong SAR, Israel, Japan, Macau SAR, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Venezuela.

Under the terms of the Convention Implementing the Schengen Agreement, flights between Schengen states are considered to be internal flights, and passengers do not need to obtain another visa.
