River levels have risen at the Ringwood Old Cottage river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall across the area and impact from the New Forest Streams. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from this afternoon. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch.

Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.

We are closely monitoring the situation. This message will be updated Monday, 20/04/20, or as the situation changes.

Groundwater levels in the Salisbury Plain are continuing to fall across the area but still remain high. We believe there remains a possibility of flooding of fields and roads for Cholderton, Collingbourne Ducis, Hanging Langford, Hindon, Hurdcott, Idmiston, Newton Tony, Orcheston, Porton, Salisbury, Shipton Bellinger, Shrewton, Stratford Sub Castle, Tidworth, Tilshead, Tisbury, Wilton, Winterbourne Stoke and Woodford. Residents are advised to ensure property flood resilience measures are in place and that pumps are working where they have been installed. Met Office forecasts showery band of locally heavy, perhaps thundery rain moving up from the south Friday evening and overnight into Saturday with more settled weather from Sunday. Some borehole information can be found at https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/river-and-sea-levels. We continue to monitor the groundwater situation carefully and will update this message on Monday 20/04/20 or as the situation changes.

    BEÒ

A thòisich aig: 10:41 BST air Dic 15 An Giblean

Dh'fhaodadh tuiltean a bhith ann - bi ullaichte

The groundwater level in Hursley continues to fall. In the last 7 days, the level has reduced by 0.38 m. The weather remains dry until Friday (17/04/2020), when rain and then heavy showers are forecast into the weekend. Next week, the weather is similar, generally dry but with some showers possible at times. If heavy rainfall does affect Hursley this weekend, then there may be a small increase in groundwater level for a few days. After which time, the level will fall and the situation should continue to improve. Next week, if the weather forecast remains favourable, and we are confident that levels will continue to fall, then we will look to remove this Alert. This Flood Alert will be updated or removed by 15:00 on Wednesday 22/04/2020.

The Groundwater level at Bishop’s Sutton continues to fall. In the last 7 days, the level has reduced by 4cm. The weather remains dry until Friday (17/04/2020), when rain and then heavy showers are forecast into the weekend. Next week, the weather is similar, with further showers possible at times. If any heavy showers should affect Bishop’s Sutton, then the groundwater will rise a little for several hours around the time of the rainfall. After which, levels should then fall and the situation should continue to improve. Next week, as long as the 5 day weather outlook remains favourable, then we will remove this Alert. This Flood Alert will be updated or removed by 15:00 on Wednesday 22 April 2020.

Groundwater levels have started to decline but remain high at our observation borehole, Farringdon, in the Alton, Chawton and Lower Farringdon area. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year and are at a level where communities may be affected by flooding from groundwater in the next few days. Levels may rise again if we receive further rainfall across the area. Low-lying land and roads will therefore continue to be at risk of flooding. Due to the nature of groundwater behaviour, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. We are continuing to monitor groundwater levels and will update this message next Wednesday (22/04/20), or as the situation changes.

    BEÒ

A thòisich aig: 10:04 BST air Dic 15 An Giblean

Dh'fhaodadh tuiltean a bhith ann - bi ullaichte

Groundwater levels are high at our Water Acre observation borehole in the Upper Aldbourne Valley. Groundwater has reached a level where communities could be affected within weeks by flooding from groundwater. However, due to the ongoing drier conditions, groundwater levels have continued to drop. Levels at the Water Acre observation borehole are below the level where we would expect to see flooding impacts but there may already be locations where groundwater is flooding at the surface. Low-lying land and roads would be at risk of flooding first. Due to the nature of groundwater behaviour, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer and the speed at which flooding will occur will be dependent on rainfall. The weather forecast is for a mainly dry week (15 April to 21 April 2020) with potential for showers on Friday and Saturday. We are continuing to monitor groundwater levels and will update this message next week by 22 April 2020, or as the situation changes.

The groundwater level continues to fall. In the last 7 days, the level has reduced by more than 0.17 m in both Preston Candover and Alresford. The weather remains dry until Friday (17/04/2020), when rain and then heavy showers are forecast into the weekend. Next week, the weather is similar with further showers possible at times. It is unlikely that this rainfall will cause groundwater levels to rise. The overall situation will continue to improve, although given the current rate of fall, it will be at least 4 weeks before groundwater stops causing impacts in the villages. However, next week, if the weather outlook remains favourable, and we are confident levels will continue to fall, then we will look to remove this Alert. We continue to monitor the forecast. This Flood Alert will be updated or removed by 15:00 on Wednesday 22/04/2020.

roundwater levels remain high at our observation borehole at Hodcott. Therefore communities in West Ilsley, East Ilsley, Compton, Chilton and West Hagbourne groundwater alert area may be affected within the next few days by groundwater flooding. Levels at the Hodcott observation borehole are at the level where we would expect to see flooding impacts and there are likely to be locations where groundwater is flooding at the surface. Levels have however begun to drop over the last week. Low-lying land and roads are at risk of flooding first. Due to the nature of groundwater behaviour, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer and the speed at which flooding will occur will be dependent on rainfall conditions. Groundwater levels are high at our Piddington observation borehole near High Wycombe. Groundwater has reached a level where communities - particularly those near Radnage and in the Hughenden Valley - could be affected within weeks by flooding from groundwater. However, due to the ongoing drier conditions, groundwater levels have now started to drop. Levels at the Piddington observation borehole are below the level where we would expect to see flooding impacts but there may be locations where groundwater is flooding at the surface. Groundwater levels remain high at our Longacre and Northfield Farm observation boreholes in the Lambourn Valley. Levels are high enough that communities may be affected, particularly in the Mile End area. Levels have however begun to drop over the last week. Levels at the Longacre observation borehole are at the level where we would expect to see flooding impacts and there are likely to be locations where groundwater is flooding at the surface. Low-lying land and roads are at risk of flooding first. Property flooding is possible in the longer-term. A thòisich aig: 10:03 BST air Dic 15 An Giblean

Dh'fhaodadh tuiltean a bhith ann - bi ullaichte

In Deane and Ashe, groundwater levels continue to fall. In the last 7 days, the level at Oakley has reduced by 0.3 m. Groundwater will still be causing some minor impact flooding to fields between Oakley and Deane. It may still be impacting cellars in Deane. Septic tanks will struggle to operate properly. The weather remains dry until Friday (17/04/2020), when rain and then heavy showers are forecast into the weekend. Next week, the weather is similar, with further showers possible at times. It is unlikely that this rainfall will cause groundwater levels to rise. The overall situation will continue to improve, although it will be at least 2 to 3 weeks before groundwater ceases to cause impacts in both communities. However, next week, if the weather outlook remains favourable, and we are confident levels will continue to fall, then we will remove this Alert. We continue to monitor the forecast. We will update or remove this Flood Alert by 15:00 on Wednesday 22/04/2020.
