On 1 January 2019, Austria has 14,429 localities with 20 or more inhabitants (without Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt and Vienna). Eugendorf doubled its population by absorbing seven other localities. Hubertendorf with 279 inhabitants (formerly part of Blindenmarkt locality) is the largest new locality.

According to the final 2019 estimates, the total population of Austria is about 8.86 million. 1.54 million people (=17.3%) are younger than 18 and 1.67 million (= 18.8%) are 65 or older. 19.5% of the population is born abroad and 83.8% has an Austrian nationality.
