13th Cinema Verite to kick off in Tehran 

The 13th edition of Iran International Documentary Film Festival, also known as the Cinema Verite will kick off officially on December 9-16 in Tehran. Films are expected to be screened in different sections including the national and the international one.

According to the festival secretariat, among 687 films from Iranian documentarians, directors from more than 100 countries across the world have sent approximately 6000 works to the world competition section of the international event.Some documentaries awarded from the international festivals including Locarno, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, Karlovy Vary, and Visions du Réel, are to be showcased in the 13th Iran International Documentary Film Festival too.  

This edition is also due to hold various workshops in presence of prominent international features aiming to widen the horizons of young directors towards making effective documentaries. Those interested to attend the workshops could refer to www.irandocfest.ir to register and get informed about the requirements. Expansion of the international research and mutual relations as well as creating significant chance for the youth to get familiar with remarkable documentarians are major objectives behind these workshops. 

Documentarians from different countries have already sent their films to the festival secretariat willing to participate in this edition to rival in different sections with their prominent works. In the "Mirror of Festival "Section, countries like Germany will compete with "A Woman Captured" directed by Bernadett Tuza-Ritter as well as "The Color of the Chameleon" directed by Andrés Lübbert, Argentina with 'Arreo" directed by Tato Moreno, France by "Heart of Stone" directed by Claire Billet & Olivier Jobard, Ireland with "It’s Not Yet Dark" made by Frankie Fenton, Austria with "Welcome to Sodom"by Christian Krönes, Florian Weigensamer.

In the "Special Screenings" Section, France will rival with 'BLOW IT TO BITS" directed by Lech Kowalsk, Italy will enter completion with "Bottoms Up" by Brunella Filì, Macedonia with "Honeyland" directed by Ljubomir Stefanov , Tamara Kotevska, Netherlands with "State Funeral "directed by Sergei Loznitsa, Spain with "The Journey of Javier Heraud" directed by Javier Corcuera and Austria-Germany-Italy with "Una Primavera" by Valentina Primavera.

According to the festival official website,Italy will compete with "A Cinema Prayer" directed by Andrei Andreyevich Tarkovsky, also "Fellini fine mai" directed by Eugenio Cappuccio, "Flavioh- Tribute to Flavio Bucci" by Riccardo Zinna, FRANCE/SUDAN/GERMANY/CHAD/QATAR with "Talking about the trees" directed by Suhaib Gasmelbari Mustafa, Cyprus will enter the competition with "THE GHOST OF PETER SELLERS" made by Peter Medak, the UK with "UNSTOPPABLE: SEAN SCULLY AND THE ART OF EVERYTHING" made by Nick Willing, USA-Afghanistan –Qatar with "What we left unfinished" directed by Mariam Ghani are due to be screened in the Portrait section.

13th Cinema Verite has also announced the screenings for its Retrospective” Section which includes "Home Games" from Ukraine, "The Immortal" from Estonia, Latvia,"My Father, The Spy" from Latvia, directed by Gints Grūbe and Jaak Kilmi, "Push-Pull" from Croatia, directed by Neven Hitrec, "ReGeneration" made by Bosnia and Herzegovina by Emir Kapetanovic, "The Sun Sets in the East from Lithuania by Alexander Belinski, Agne Dovydaityte, "Wild Berries" from Romania-Portugal-Hungary by Marianna Vas, Hedda Bednarszky.

Mohammad Hamidi Moghadam have been announced to be the festival director in this edition.
