Egypt's Sisi expresses aspiration to develop trade relations with South Korea

Sisi and his South Korean counterpart discussed several regional and international issues of mutual interest

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi stressed on Tuesday to his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in his aspiration to develop trade relations in light of the country’s mega developmental projects, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

According to an official statement, presidency spokesman Bassam Rady said that El-Sisi received a call from Moon, where he expressed Cairo’s pride in the close relations with South Korea and their current partnership.

He affirmed a desire to boost trade relations in light of Egypt’s ongoing mega projects and promising investment and trade opportunities, especially in the SCZone.

The South Korean president praised the distinguished relations between the two countries, the statement said, adding that he stressed his keenness to increase the volume of Korean investments to Egypt.

The phone call also saw discussions on several regional and international issues of mutual interest, the statement said.

It witnessed a consensus on the importance of increasing the mutual visits of senior officials from both countries, promoting joint cooperation mechanisms and exchanging experiences through health authorities in both countries to strengthen efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
