Started at: 16:24 GMT on Mon 22 February
Flooding is possible - be prepared
The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.41 m and is falling slowly. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway whilst this level exceeds 7.45 m. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 5.65 m and is stable. Pumping continues at Saltmoor and Northmoor pumping stations. We will monitor the level of the River Tone and start pumping at Currymoor as soon as the river level allows us to. The forecast for today, 22/02/21 and tomorrow, 23/02/21 is dry, which should allow river levels to slowly reduce, but we may see a slight rise in levels this afternoon in response to the rainfall last night. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures. Areas affected: Groundwater flooding in Bramdean and Cheriton
ACTIVE
Started at: 11:46 GMT on Mon 22 February
Flooding is possible - be prepared
At West Meon Hut and Cheriton Wood, groundwater levels remain high. In the last 7 days, rain has fallen fairly persistently and evenly. 30mm has been recorded in Bishop’s Sutton. Groundwater has currently now stabilised in both locations. It has stabilised at a level which is exceptionally close (approximately 0.1m below) where a small number of cellars can experience flood impacts in Cheriton. This week, the weather should remain fairly dry. Although currently stable, the groundwater level may still fluctuate a little over the next few days. Some cellar flood impacts in Cheriton remain a possibility. However, with drier weather, it is also possible that the level could just begin to fall, before onset of impacts actually occur. We continue to monitor the forecast. If you use pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure they can operate, in case they should be required over the next few weeks. Groundwater levels have started to rise in several locations in West Dorset due to the wet weather experienced during the past week. Further rainfall is forecast on Monday which will see a continuation of this upward trend during the week ahead. Slightly higher day time temperatures will help vegetation growth which in turn will slow the recharge of the aquifer. Pumping equipment and property level protection measures should remain in place where available as levels will remain quite high for several weeks. Groundwater remains high, but it is now starting to fall. Since Sunday (14/02/21), 32mm of rain has been recorded in Warnford (a little drier than expected). Currently, groundwater may just be emerging in 1 or 2 cellars in Lower West Street. From Friday (19/02/21) until Tuesday (23/02/21) further rain is forecast, with 20 to 30mm expected. The weather may then turn drier. Over the next few days, the level in Hambledon will continue to fall. However, rain this weekend, may cause a small increase in level at Broadhalfpenny Down (BHP). If the level at BHP rises, then it will also begin to increase in Hambledon. From next weekend onwards (27/02/21), it is still possible that the level could rise and just be high enough to affect up to 4 cellars in Lower West Street. Flooding is possible - be prepared
Groundwater remains high. Since Sunday (14/02/21), 25mm of rain has been recorded at Walderton. In Finchdean, the level is fairly stable, fluctuating a little (between 1 and 6 cms per day). At Chalton, the level is just beginning to rise. The Idsworth Lavant is flowing, and levels may just be high enough to require a small number of pumps to operate to prevent water from affecting property. From Friday (19/02/21) until Tuesday (23/02/21) further rain is forecast with 20 to 30mm expected. Next week, the weather may turn drier. Current forecast rainfall totals won’t cause a large increase in level at Chalton. Over the next week, the level in Finchdean will continue to fluctuate and may rise a little (probably by no more than 0.1 to 0.2m). As such, there will be little change to the current impacts. Groundwater levels remain high. Since Sunday (14/02/21), 37mm of rain has been recorded at Broughton (a little drier than expected). At Lopcombe and West Tytherley, levels are currently fairly stable, and there are no impacts from groundwater. From Friday (19/02/21) until Tuesday (23/02/21) further rain is forecast with 20 to 30 mm expected. Next week, the weather may then turn drier. If this volume of rain does affect the area, then over the next week, levels will continue to rise (slowly but steadily). By next weekend (27/02/21) the level may just be high enough to cause cellar flooding in a small number of properties (1-2) in Nether Wallop. Currently, we do not expect widespread flooding in the villages. We continue to monitor the forecast. Flooding is possible - be prepared
Groundwater levels in the Lavant valley are still very high, but have been able to fall by a few centimetres this week. The rain that was forecast from 15/02/2021 has tended to fall in the south west of England instead. Groundwater infiltration will continue to affect the sewerage network, with overpumping in East Dean and Charlton helping to reduce impacts. Water may flow on roads and be high enough to cause cellar flooding, or be close to floorboards in a few properties in East Dean, Charlton, Singleton and West Dean. Small amounts of rain are likely from Friday (19/2/2021) until Monday. Groundwater should remain stable, or rise only a few centimetres. The week from Monday 22/2/2021 looks drier. Flood risk should not increase, but minor impacts will likely remain into March. If you have pumps to help reduce groundwater levels in your property, please check they are working. At the lower end of Preston Candover village, the need to pump water from cellars will continue. In Old Alresford, a small number of cellars and septic tank operation will be affected. Rain is forecast today (Wednesday 17/02/21) through to Sunday (21/02/21) with 20mm to 40mm expected. Groundwater will rise over the next 7 days, and the rate of rise could also increase. However, the current situation will not alter significantly, and more widespread groundwater flooding in the villages is not currently expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. If you use pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure they can operate. This message will be updated by 12:00 on 24/02/2021.

Flood alert
Areas affected: Groundwater flooding in East Kent
ACTIVE
Started at: 17:59 GMT on Tue 16 February
Flooding is possible - be prepared
The rate of groundwater level increase in East Kent has slowed over recent days. Drier conditions associated with last week’s colder weather resulted in a reduction of the rate of groundwater increase, relative to that experienced over recent weeks. Whilst groundwater levels throughout East Kent remain high, there has been a moderate improvement as the flow in the Bournes has stabilised and reduced slightly over the last few days. The expectation is that properties and infrastructure in East Kent susceptible to groundwater flooding will be exposed to a similar level of risk over the coming days. The Environment Agency continues to monitor the evolving situation and will update this message by Tuesday 23 February 2021, or sooner should the situation change significantly.
