A new version of the Intra-State War data is now available. Version 5.1 includes updated data on the intra-state wars from 1816-2014 and wars that were omitted from the GUIDE due to publication errors. Check out the new update here: https://correlatesofwar.org/data-sets/COW-war/intra-state-wars-v5-1.zip/view

MIDLOC version 2.1 is now available. This updates includes two substantive changes. First, the population of events in MIDLOC v2.1 now matches the population of events in MID v4.3. Second, the column indicating to which PRIO-GRID cell an event belongs has been completely corrected. Check out the new update here: https://correlatesofwar.org/data-sets/MIDLOC

Paul Diehl stepped down from hosting the territorial change dataset. He will be replaced by Steven Miller from Clemson University. We welcome Steve to the COW community and look forward to working with him on the territorial change dataset.

A new version of the IGO data is now available. This update includes changes from version 2.3 and extends the data to cover 1816-2014. Data files include a new codebook outlining the changes to the previous version of the data. Check out the new update here: http://cow.dss.ucdavis.edu/data-sets/IGOs/

The Correlates of War Project is pleased to host a new dataset covering bilateral defense cooperation agreements from 1980-2011. Information about this new dataset, as well as a zip file containing the data and codebook, can be found here.

Updates include edits to existing cases as well as an extension of the data to cover 1816-2018. You can find the data here.

The Correlates of War group will hold a meeting for the CoW advisory board and data hosts at the Peace Science Society's annual meeting in Tempe, Arizona. The meeting will be held at the Mission Palms hotel in Tempe at 5:30 on Friday, November 3, in the Dolores room.

Version 5 of the NMC data is now available. NMC V5 updates the data through 2012.

The annual COW Board meeting at ISA will take place on Friday, February 24 in the Tilghman Room at the Hilton Baltimore. The meeting will take place from 7:30-8:30pm.

Version 5 of the Territorial Change data set updates the data through 2014.. The current version is available under the "Data Sets" page, "Territorial Change Data" section.

Version 4.01 of the MID data set corrects minor discrepancies in the MID 4.0 data. The current version is available under the "Data Sets" page, "Militarized Interstate Disputes Data" section.

Version 4.0 of the MID data set extends the Militarized Interstate Dispute data through 2010. The current version is available under the "Data Sets" page, "Militarized Interstate Disputes Data" section.

This update to the World Religion Data updates multiple records, especially from 2000-2010. The current version is available under the "Data Sets" page, "World Religion Data" section.

Version 4.1 updates the alliance data by including two Israeli treaties that were not in the original v4.0 data. The current version is available under the "Data Sets" page, "Formal Alliances Data" section. 

Jessica Weeks replaces Phil Schrodt on the Correlates of War Advisory Board. Her terms through March 2018. 

The data set records all formal alliances between states in 1816-2012 and is now available under the "Data Sets" page, "Formal Alliances Data" section.

The data set covers religious adherence worldwide since 1945 and is now available under the "Data Sets" page, "World Religion Data" section. 

On January 1, 2013 Zeev Maoz became Director of the Correlates of War Project. He took over for Paul F. Diehl, who served as the COW director from 2005 through 2012.
