Building a Sustainable Environment

Enjoy Reimagined Art, Landscapes and Amenities

The Medical Campus is as beautiful as it is functional. As an innovation district working on community revitalization strategies, we have created a Master Plan to ensure that development adheres to smart growth principles of urban development and builds a sustainable environment that contributes to the overall health of our community. Thanks to the renovated streetscapes of Ellicott Park, what was once a major thoroughfare is now a streamlined spine creating connections. Using LED lighting, renovated sidewalks, planters and lighting, benches and bike racks, the exterior of the Medical Campus has become an active environment for pedestrians and bicyclists to enjoy. Enjoy our public art both outside and inside, from large-scale murals on the exterior of buildings to incredible sculptures in the walkways, as well as extensive art collections throughout the hospitals and buildings. We have also made a commitment to green infrastructure and clean energy alternatives. The bioretention swale helps manage stormwater and provides an attractive gateway. We have deployed clean energy alternatives across the Campus, such as off-grid lights powered by a wind, solar, and battery combination, LEED-certified buildings, solar arrays, and 46 electric vehicle charging stations for use by employees, patients, and visitors.
