Open Community Collections pass the 700 mark

This month, the Open Community Collections initiative marks a new milestone with more than 700 contributed collections. With this achievement, we have announced the extension of the Charter period for all Community Collections participating institutions until December 31, 2022.

$1.5 million Mellon grant to make JSTOR accessible to incarcerated students

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded ITHAKA a new $1.5 million grant to provide incarcerated college students with access to JSTOR, a digital library of journals, books, and other materials. Our aim is for every incarcerated college student in the United States to have access to JSTOR, along with the research skills to use this and other digital resources.

JSTOR Labs launches free, open source tool to create rich, compelling essays

Our JSTOR Labs team recently announced the launch of Juncture, a free, open source tool to support the creation of visual essays using technologies that are broadly accessible. The tool was developed in connection with the Plant Humanities Lab, a resource created by JSTOR Labs and Dumbarton Oaks.

465,000+ open images from the Metropolitan Museum now on JSTOR

More than 465,000 images from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York are now freely available on JSTOR. The Museum has made all images of public domain works in its collection available under Creative Commons Zero (CC0), which means that all JSTOR users are free to download, share, and remix them without restriction.

ASPIRE, the first verification service for accessibility statements in the publishing industry, has awarded JSTOR a perfect 100% score. JSTOR is now ranked as one of the top resources in ASPIRE’s audit of more than 50 digital platforms.

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), a national consortium serving the 75 universities in Canada, has begun freely sharing more than 10,000 items of a growing collection of digitized documentary heritage in JSTOR’s Open Community Collections.

JSTOR is providing free access to more than 2,500 articles and book chapters complementing the Schomburg Center’s Black Liberation Reading List through December 31, 2021. JSTOR is partnering with the American Psychological Association (APA) to offer academic monographs through JSTOR’s ebook program. More than 500 titles are available now, and APA will continue to add new academic titles as they are published.

University of Toronto Press adds 4,400 ebooks to JSTOR’s EBA program

The University of Toronto Press, a longtime partner in the Books at JSTOR program, has joined JSTOR’s Evidence-Based Acquisition (EBA) model. It is contributing more than 4,400 backlist ebooks to EBA.

Social sign-on now available for JSTOR

As demands for remote access and teaching continue to grow, JSTOR has expanded its remote access options with Google social sign-on capabilities. This option allows students, faculty, and staff to log in using their institutional email addresses provisioned by Google.

Librarians can now request JSTOR social sign-on authentication for their institution.
