Help
Hello Andre,
I am Tulsi, a volunteer member of Maithili Wikimedians User Group. I am writing this mail to let you know that I have enabled two factor authentication in my wikimedia account and dont have access to google authenticator, as the app has been uninstalled mistakely from my phone. Unfortunately, I lost recovery backup codes too. I can't login to my wikimedia account because there is asking authentication token and i don't have. I would like to request you to please help me disabling 2FA from my wikimedia account "User:Tulsi Bhagat". Also, I am not able to report a bug on wikimedia phabricator because my phabricator account has been disabled by someone or may automatically. Thanks for your consideration. - @Tulsi Bhagat: Hi! You also sent me an email about this, hence see my email reply. In short: I think I do not have any power to disable 2FA on any of your accounts; if you think that I have such power, please tell me how/why. Thanks, --aklapper (talk) 12:59, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
- Only root users can IIRC, as long as they are convinced on the authenticity of the request and with the go-ahead of Trust & Safety. Resetting passwords and removing 2FAs for accounts are very risky operations. MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:05, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
- Handled in phab:T159067 instead. --aklapper (talk) 18:23, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
