If you add the following to your ssh config:

Host *.e
    HostName %hqiad.wmnet

Then instead of typing

ssh puppetmaster1001.eqiad.wmnet

You can simply type

ssh puppetmaster1001.e

You can do the same with codfw and other domains of your choice:

Host *.c
    HostName %hodfw.wmnet

Host *.w
    HostName %hikimedia.org
