Bots project

Hello! May I join the Bots project? I have a bot which does not work in zh.wikipedia.org and I want to learn more about how to run and write an bot. Thanks! Chihonglee ◎Talk page 00:48, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm not an admin on the bots project. You'll have to ask in IRC or send an email to the labs maiing list. --dschwen (talk) 19:56, 4 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Tool Labs

Hello Dschwen, welcome to the Tool Labs project! Your request for access was processed and you should be able to login now via ssh at tools-login.wmflabs.org. To get started, check the help page and the migrating from the Toolserver page. You can also ask in our irc channel at #wikimedia-labs connect or send an e-mail to our mailing list labs-l@lists.wikimedia.org - thank you, and have fun using labs! petrb (talk) 16:45, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the prompt processing of the request. --dschwen (talk) 16:46, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Completing project documentation

This is regarding the announcement (http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/labs-l/2014-July/002762.html) if you have missed it.

We have added some fields in addition to description field which is already there on your projects. Please click "Edit Documentation" in your project page/ project pages and fill the blanks. It will only take few minutes from your valuable time.

If you have any comments or suggestion on the form please let me know.--Sandaru (talk) 17:09, 25 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Code

Hi, I shamelessly adapted some of your code /data/project/dschwenbot/public_html/intersection/index.php --> /data/project/ext-lnk-discover/www/sc/sc.php

It just displays all articles in a category as I need it for another tool (http://tools.wmflabs.org/ext-lnk-discover). You don't have a LICENSE file but assume it's permissible? (We're supposed to make all code opensource on Tools I believe). I have little experience with PHP or the databases here so it was helpful to adapt your existing code. -- Green Cardamom (talk) 04:11, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sure, no problem. Thanks for letting me know! --dschwen (talk) 04:17, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Zoomviewer

Hello Dschwen. Thanks a lot for zoomviewer which is a really awesome tool. (I like it so much your tool that I added links on Crotos for HD files). Unfortunately, it seems that there is a problem because the service looks down on tools.wmflabs.org. I hope It will be easy to restart the zoomviewer service which is a notable improvment to Wikimedia Commons. Best regards --Shonagon (talk) 20:54, 1 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

panoviewer

Hi! Thank you for making the panoviewer. A year or so ago we only had a java applet. Java is less and less supported by browsers and the plugin is a security hazard. I would like to suggest to include a link back to an image's meta data on Wikimedia Commons, so that if there is a direct link to a panorama attribution is also included. Again, thank you. --1Veertje (talk) 12:53, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes, good suggestion. I'll work on this in the near future (btw. the wrapper for the Java plugin was my project too). --dschwen (talk) 20:55, 25 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I did not find any where how to use panoviewer... Please, could U provide a link to a minimalist doc ? --Cyrille37 (talk) 13:44, 20 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

It is linked to from the Commons:Template:Pano360 template. --dschwen (talk) 15:44, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Dschwen or/and team. A question: it's possible to load 360º videos, spherevideos? They can be possible in the future? Thanks!! --Galopax (talk) 12:38, 22 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Dschwen. What do you think about making a panoviewer mediawiki extension ? platonides (talk) 23:16, 22 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
[[User:Galopax|Galopax] I had looked into this at some point. I don't remember what the roadblock was. I can investigate. platonides this is under consideration. It would be nice if the map tile infrastructure could be used for the projections. --dschwen (talk) 01:56, 23 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Kill gpsexifbot process on tools-login

Hello! I've killed a python process running on tools-login.wmflabs.org for gpsexifbot. This was taking up too much resources (NFS IO and CPU), causing big slow downs for other users. In the future, please run long running bots in the grid. Thanks! yuvipanda (talk) 04:48, 17 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dschwen, I have just killed that bot again. As Yuvi mentioned, please run it on the grid, as the bastion needs to remain accessible. Thanks! valhallasw (Merlijn van Deen) (talk) 20:08, 19 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm, thnaks for taking care of that. Must have been an accident. That bot runs on the grid usually. --dschwen (talk) 20:01, 6 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

vic Tool Review

Hi, we're doing a review to make sure as many tools meet a minimum standard. I noticed vic tool doesn't have a description on toolsadmin, licence or a published repo. Could you add this information to this tool? Thanks! Komla Sapaty (talk) 04:06, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

ZoomViewer produces a 503 error

Hi, Please see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T343796 Thanks, Yann (talk) 12:15, 8 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Given that it’s been down for over a month now, I’d adopt the tool according to the abandoned tool policy and try to bring it up. Please reply within 14 days if you object (and please try to bring it up yourself in that case). —Tacsipacsi (talk) 09:57, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
