Could this robot dolphin replace captive animals in marine parks?

An animatronics company hopes its technology will transform marine parks.

A hyper-realistic animatronic dolphin built and designed by engineering company Edge Innovations could replace captive animals in marine parks.

The company hopes to transform marine parks for years to come by providing an alternative to live animals bred, trained and held in captivity.

Edge Innovations is behind animatronics used for Hollywood films like Free Willy, Deep Blue Sea and The Abyss.

Their animatronic dolphins will reportedly find a home in marine parks currently being built in China, instead of live captured dolphins.

Beyond dolphins, Edge Innovations envisions animatronic animals in theme parks to include Great White Sharks and even creatures from the Jurassic time period.
