PM Albin Kurti: Will US troops retreat from Kosovo too?

As Joe Biden pledges to end the US’s ‘forever wars’, Kosovo’s prime minister discusses if a troops pullout is possible.

After decades of ethnic tensions and war, Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008.

The move was partially recognised by the international community, with the United States and most European countries as allies.

The NATO-led peacekeeping forces have helped guarantee the region’s security, but a diplomatic problem with Serbia and with what many would consider the region’s superpower, Russia, remains.

As the current mood in Washington is to avoid military interventions around the world, does Pristina fear the US troops will one day retreat from Kosovo? Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti talks to Al Jazeera.
