Administrative and Operations Coordinator/Associate, K-12 Education
American Progress has an immediate opening for an Administrative and Operations Coordinator or Associate on the K-12 Education team at American Progress. The team is devoted to generating pragmatic and progressive new policy ideas to advance education reform in the United States. The Coordinator or Associate will be driven by American Progress’ mission to improve the lives of all Americans, through bold, progressive ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action, with the aim of not only changing the conversation, but changing the country. Associate Director, Policy and Advocacy, Postsecondary Education
American Progress has an immediate opening for an Associate Director for Policy and Advocacy on the Postsecondary Education team. The Associate Director will manage all of the team’s advocacy and outreach work while also contributing to policy idea generation, authoring work published by American Progress or other outlets, and supporting the team’s communications efforts. Most of the Associate Director’s time will be spent on advocacy, coalition, and cross-team work, including creating and executing a strategy to educate policymakers such as Hill staff about the team’s proposals and priorities. This individual will be responsible for a grant-seeking portfolio that generates $7 million to $15 million in annual revenue for American Progress. Chief Financial Officer
American Progress is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to serve as the senior finance officer of two tax-exempt, mission-driven organizations: the Center for American Progress and the Center for American Progress Action Fund, known together as American Progress. The CFO must be an experienced finance and accounting professional who has exceptional technical skills, is committed to the mission of American Progress, and knows how to lead a team. The CFO will serve as a member of the Executive team and a resource and ally across the organization, helping guide and implement the strategic vision and planning of American Progress. The CFO will lead the organizations’ finances and help measure progress against organizational goals, maximizing the use of available resources across departments and developing innovative tools to help foster cross-department work and streamline reporting. A strong candidate for this role is a team player who has experience in digital communications and an interest in leveraging email to grow, educate, and engage audiences.
We are looking for someone who understands the technical aspects of email marketing as well as experience using email to reach and engage different audiences effectively. Candidates should be comfortable brainstorming content ideas and writing compelling copy for a variety of progressive issue campaigns and projects. Policy Analyst, Criminal Justice Reform
American Progress has an immediate opening for a Policy Analyst on the Criminal Justice Reform team. The Criminal Justice Reform team is dedicated to developing policies that (1) shrink the footprint of the criminal justice system while improving public health and safety; (2) promote equity and accountability within the justice system; and (3) provide opportunities for people directly impacted by a criminal conviction. The team’s work stems from principles of fair laws and enforcement of laws; just and proportional responses to crime; comprehensive investments in safety outside of the justice system; and data- and evidence-driven solutions. The Policy Analyst will be primarily responsible for leading a new bail reform campaign initiative, which will leverage American Progress’ multidisciplinary policy expertise, comprehensive communications and outreach apparatus, and relationships with elected officials at all levels of government to shape the debate around bail reform and support urgently needed reforms at the state level. Quantitative and economic analysis is central to much of the research conducted by the Immigration team at American Progress, and this position will play an integral role in executing that work. Research Assistant, Women’s Economic Security
The Research Assistant assists the Women’s Initiative team by providing research support as needed, primarily on topics related to women’s economic security issues including equal pay and the gender wage gap, paid leave, gender-based employment discrimination such as sexual harassment, and other gender-based barriers to women’s advancement in the workplace. The successful candidate will be guided by CAP’s mission “to improve the lives of all Americans, through bold, progressive ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action, with the aim of not only changing the conversation, but changing the country.” Research on additional issues related to women’s equality—from women’s leadership, to women’s health and rights, to broader economic, employment, or equity issues that can affect women’s daily lives—may also be needed.
