13 May 2021, Index number: AFR 25/4114/2021
This public statement is in response to the press statement released by the Attorney General’s Office (AG) of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia about its criminal investigation of the massacre in Axum, in the Tigray Region, which took place on 28 November 2020. It highlights 2 issues on the press statement that differ from Amnesty International's findings: the identity of the victims and the role of Eritrean troops in killing civilians.
