Armenia’s minister of economy Vahan Kerobyan presented at the cabinet sitting today a draft offering to make January 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 working days. He said the offer is addressed to having stronger economy in Armenia.
“The regulations we have today, in essence erase ten days from Armenia’s economic life and during these period decade of partying is being announced, for any person interested in Armenia’s future and responsible for it this luxury is impermissible,” the minister said.
He said if the law is adopted Armenia’s annual GDP will grow with 88 billion AMD or with 1,5%.
Armenia’s PM said that the issue has been matured and discussed long ago.
“We offer to discuss and understand the issue from today and understand what public consent we may form, it is a very delicate but important issue,” the PM said.
Pashinyan stressed that the draft must undergo readings in the National Assembly.
“Let adopt it not as final political decision, but more as offer made to the public,” the PM said.
Labor and social affairs minister spoke against the draft.
“The cutting of non-working days essentially reduces the number of days off of workers during the year,” the minister said, adding that the economy almost fully works during non-working days too.
Finance minister, head of PM’s administration welcomed the initiative.
Armenia’s PM urged to study all the layers and come to common conclusion.
The social affairs and labor minister was the only person to vote against the draft.
