A battle over the future of the Republican Party is set to play out this week as House members vote on whether to dump Representative Liz Cheney, a critic of former President Donald Trump, from their leadership ranks.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and GOP Whip Steve Scalise have both publicly backed Representative Elise Stefanik to replace Cheney. McCarthy made his endorsement Sunday in a Fox News interview. Stefanik tweeted her thanks.
