List of ministers in MK Stalin’s Tamil Nadu cabinet – finance minister, home minister and other key posts

Chief Minister

DMK president MK Stalin is the state’s next chief minister. He will also be heading the home ministry.

Finance Minister

Palanivel Thiagarajan will be the next finance minister. He is a graduate of National Institute of Technology, has a doctorate in applied computers from State University of New York and an MBA in finance from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

Minister for Public Works

EV Velu will lead the Public Works department – a key portfolio, given the importance of infrastructure.

Minister for Water Resources

Durai Murugan will be handling the Water Resources ministry. As the state has been grappling with water shortage, this is looked at as a major portfolio.

KN Nehru will be the new Minister for Municipal Administration apart from Urban and Water Supply portfolios.

PK Sekar Babu will be the new Minister for HRCE – a contentious ministry given the Hindu right’s allegations of ‘control’ of its deities.

Ma Subramanian will head the Health ministry in addition to medical education.

Minister for School Education

Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi is the new school education minister. He is a graduate from Bharathidasan University and is the son of former DMK MLA Anbil Poyyamozhi.

M Mathiventhan will head the key ministry of tourism.
