Call for Board of Directors Election Nominations

CARLI is seeking nominations for candidates to fill seats on the CARLI Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is the governing authority of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois.

CARLI Governing Members will elect one Board member from each of three (3) specified constituencies (public universities, community colleges, and private colleges and universities). Candidates receiving the most votes will serve three (3) year terms, July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020.

Illinois Digital Heritage Hub now live in DPLA

CARLI is pleased to share that the collections of the Illinois Digital Heritage Hub, representing a collaboration between Illinois State Library, the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI), Chicago Public Library, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are officially live in DPLA and ready to explore.

2016 Annual Meeting Recording and Slides

Almost 150 guests attended the CARLI Annual Meeting on November 18. If you missed the meeting or would like to view it again, for a limited time, you can view it online.

The recording will be available until December 17, 2016. Viewers will see a short advertisement before the video begins to play.

Register by November 10 for the 2016 CARLI Annual Meeting and Directors′ Meeting

The 2016 CARLI Annual Meeting will be held Friday, November 18 at the I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign. Staff at any CARLI member library are invited to attend. 

CARLI Office Closed

The CARLI office will be closed from December 23 through January 2, and will reopen on January 3. 

Please or call toll free 866-904-5843 to report any problems or concerns. Callers will have the option to page a tech support staff person to report a system outage or any other serious problem. CARLI staff will respond to all other issues and reports when regular business hours resume.

CARLI Executive Director Susan Singleton Retires

Susan Singleton, CARLI's first Executive Director following the formation of the consortium in 2005, retires on July 29. "It has been an honor to work with the staff and directors of the academic libraries in the state and with the CARLI staff throughout this first decade of CARLI’s existence.” said Singleton. "I have no doubt that new director Anne Craig, the Board of Directors, and the CARLI staff working with the truly outstanding CARLI community, will ensure a smooth transition for CARLI's future."

Please Welcome Anne Craig as CARLI Senior Director

We are very happy to announce that Anne Craig will join CARLI as Senior Director beginning in early July. Anne is currently Director of the Illinois State Library, a position she has held since 2005. Anne will be replacing Susan Singleton who will retire at the end of July.

E-Resources FY17 Selection Cycle to Open in New Selection System

The FY 17 Selection Cycle is expected to open in the first week May using the newly redesigned Selection System. Vendors are currently loading pricing into the system. After all pricing has been verified, the system will be open to libraries for their FY17 subscription commitments.

Volunteer for a CARLI Committee

Each year CARLI has a number of opportunities to serve on various committees. Service on CARLI committees affords individuals a unique opportunity to use their experience and expertise to help shape the future of the consortium and its services. CARLI is now seeking volunteers to serve on 9 advisory committees. Volunteers chosen will serve a three-year term, July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019. Faculty and staff members from all CARLI member libraries, with all levels of experience, are encouraged to apply.

Over 130 people attended the CARLI Annual Meeting in Champaign on Friday, November 13 to celebrate 35 Years of I-Share and 10 Years of CARLI.  If you missed the meeting, or want to see any of it again, visit the event page to find a link to the recordings of the morning and afternoon sessions, as well as links to the speakers’ slide presentations.

CARLI member libraries can now save on Document Delivery charges by using Reprints Desk's A-Z Academic Document Delivery Service. To hear more about Reprints Desk, plan to attend the informational webinar on Tuesday, December 8 at 1 p.m.

Register by Thursday, November 5 if you are planning to attend the CARLI Annual Meeting on Friday, November 13, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign. Staff at any CARLI member library is welcome. There is no fee to attend, and lunch will be provided.
