Why this petition matters

I am starting this petition for a few reasons. I want to help assaulted students get the justice they deserve and to make sure they feel as safe as possible returning to their school without being afraid of retaliation or bullying from other students. The accused to be expelled from school because they have done physical harm and made a plan about harming another student and actually carried it out.

On Monday November 22, 2021 our daughter who is a Sophomore in HHS was brutally assaulted and beaten by another student. A freshman. For no reason. This student was harassing her and bullying her and started shoulder checking her the week prior. That Friday she told her teacher that they are in the same class and the teacher moved her seat and told the student to leave her alone. He made a plan over the weekend to assault our daughter and he followed through with it. On Monday November 22, 2021 when our daughter was leaving her 7th period class this student was waiting outside of her class with his friends and sister. When our daughter stepped foot out of the class room he began violently assaulting her and beating her as well as stomping on her head, face and body until two teachers could get him off her while his friends and sister watched. She endured very serious injuries that landed her in the hospital that includes a concussion. Bumps the size of eggs all over her head and face. As well as multiple bruising all over her body and he also broke her right shoulder. The assistant principal did not really want to tell me what happened just that she was assaulted and the other student had been dealt with and given a suspension. A suspension for a brutal attack that could have killed our daughter. I called him several times and every time blew me off and we felt as though a suspension was sufficient why are you calling. What happened to the No Bullying Policy at schools? Our daughter was terrified to return to school. And what is a suspension when a child could have died from a head injury or a collapsed lung? We wanted more. We had a meeting with the principal, assistant who thought it wasn’t a big deal, superintendent, head of guidance and the police. Our concern is this disturbing kid planned this attack and acted on it. Who is not to say when he returns from his suspension which is soon I might add that god forbid he does something worse - like shoots her! They assured us that wouldn’t happen. I am sorry but you can not predict what a kid with a violent history is going to do. We are not satisfied with the schools plan. I am asking for everyone’s help to please sign this petition not only for our daughter but to hopefully change the suspension to expulsion for all schools when a assault of this extent happens. We are pressing charges but our daughter should not have to live in fear and have fear of being in school. Children are supposed to feel SAFE while in school. If I can get our district to change, I’m hoping to have all school districts consider this. Our daughter still to do this day is living and dealing with the injuries. I do not want to see another child get hurt.
Please if you could find it in your heart to please sign this petition for our daughter and all other students, our family would be ever so grateful. Any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to me @ justice4angel21@gmail.com

Our entire family and friends greatly appreciate all the support we have received for our daughter so far and could not be more grateful.
