Look to the past as a means of weighing the present and future

Over the last few months we have gained knowledge about the greenspace around the Varsity and we've had correspondence with Fuqua Development. There is still plenty to push for and a lot to learn, but I'm very proud of the ground we've covered so far. The community has spoken, and in a matter of weeks, we amassed over 11 thousand signatures and counting, that's nearly 10% of the population of the city!

There is so much to share in the coming weeks but we are going to divide in up into sections: past, present, and future. This greenspace of Athens has so much history and we will begin by sharing this article, written by local Athenian Nicole Isaac, who has done a vast amount of research on the topic and it's truly amazing what she has uncovered.

In Nicole's article you will learn that there is a historical precedent in preserving this greenspace. This is not the first time the community has come together to protect this exact spot from developers. Please read Part 1 of Nicole's piece "Look to the past as a means of weighing the present and future."

This community was able to come together in the 1960s to successfully protect this greenspace and now we must do it again. Enjoy the article and more from us soon
