LGBTQ Students

Open to all Full-Time, Evening, and Weekend MBA students who wish to better understand their positioning as allies, allyship programs include workshops on the “isms” that exist in our society, workplaces, and institutions as they relate to race, gender, and sexuality.

For members of the Booth queer MBA community who prefer to gather in more casual settings, the student-run group OUTreach holds intimate get-togethers throughout the year.

Designed for prospective MBA students from diverse communities, this event gives you the chance to tour campus, get to know current students, and find out more about Chicago Booth’s appreciation for diverse perspectives.

The Booth MBA community marks National Coming Out Day each fall with a panel discussion featuring Boothies sharing their stories of coming out, acceptance, struggle, and success. In addition, students, faculty, and staff are invited to sign a pledge to serve as allies to the LGBTQ community. Hundreds of signatures are collected each year.

At this annual event, Booth MBA students perform in drag and compete for the crown. Sponsored by the student-run group OUTreach, Pink Party is a great opportunity to bond with Booth’s LGBTQ community.

Each spring, the University of Chicago’s Office of LGBTQ Student Life celebrates the achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally graduates from across the university.

Learn more about LGBTQ life at Booth at the annual ROMBA Conference, where you can speak with representatives from our Admissions team and meet with members of OUTreach, our student-run LGBTQ group. We also host preconference workshops to help you make the most of the conference and its opportunities to network with gay business leaders.

Whether you need a break from the business school grind or an escape from Chicago weather, join our student group OUTreach at an offsite retreat for the Booth queer MBA community (hot tub optional).

The student-led group OUTreach builds community among Booth's LGBTQ students, promotes inclusivity on campus, provides mentorship, helps students navigate the recruiting process, and hosts parties and other social events. Members include students from the Full-Time, Evening, and Weekend MBA Programs. 

Booth Pride offers learning and career-development opportunities for LGBTQ students in the Evening and Weekend MBA Programs.

The Diversity & Inclusion Initiative invites the university community to get involved in inclusion workshops, ally training opportunities, and monthly lunch-and-learn sessions that bring together individuals from across the university to learn about and act upon issues related to diversity and inclusion.

The hub for LGBTQ student life at the University of Chicago, the Office of LGBTQ Student Life serves LGBTQ students, questioning students, and allies in the college and graduate and professional schools, in order to create an inclusive and safe community.
