International Student Scholarships

International Student Scholarships for academic merit and family need are available. The merit scholarships alone can go as high as $17,000 per year, with additional funds awarded to help meet financial need.

Concordia prizes the contributions international students make to enhance education on campus, and we are pleased to make generous scholarships available that can cover a portion of the cost of attendance.

Merit-Based Awards

International Excellence Scholarships are competitive, merit-based scholarships that are awarded to international first-year students or transfer students for up to four years. Current scholarships range from $11,000 to $17,000 per year for the 2024-25 academic year. The amount of your award is determined by the strength of your academic record. Admitted students will receive notification of this scholarship at the time of admission.

Concordia Scholarship Interview

Admitted students who demonstrate the ability to pay at least $26,000 USD (or more) per year are eligible to participate in a Concordia Scholarship interview. The virtual interview is the second phase of the scholarship program and an opportunity to earn additional scholarship resources to meet unmet financial need. 

Dates for the next round of Concordia Scholarship Interviews are available on the accepted international students page. Eligible students will receive an invitation to reserve an interview time.

Talent Awards

Concordia College offers additional scholarship opportunities for students participating in visual arts, music, theatre, and speech. Separate applications are required. Students selected to receive these awards will be expected to participate in events and programs. More details below.

#YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship

Concordia offers two annual, renewable scholarships of at least 50% of tuition to selected international undergraduate students dedicated to advancing intercultural learning and understanding at Concordia. First-year international students who have applied to Concordia can apply for the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship. All academic majors and fields of study are welcome to apply.

Students and their family or financial sponsor must be able to pay at least $26,000 USD (or more) per year as this is not a full scholarship.

Students will participate in a video interview to further explain the ways in which they will impact the campus through their dedication to advancing intercultural learning and understanding. Students will be invited to participate in this video interview following admission.

External Scholarship Partnerships

United World College (UWC) Davis Scholars. Concordia is proud to be one of 100 colleges in the U.S. recognized as a Davis UWC Scholars Program partner school. This scholar program is committed to bringing talented students from every corner of the world to U.S. colleges and universities in hopes of creating international understanding and positive changes in the world. Eligible graduates from United World College secondary schools identified as Davis UWC Scholars at Concordia will receive scholarship support to meet their full demonstrated financial need.

ELCA International Women Leaders Scholarships. Concordia College is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Concordia partners with the ELCA Global Mission Unit to sponsor talented women leaders from around the world who have been endorsed by global companion churches and who promise to return home at the completion of studies to use their education in service to their communities, the church, and the world. Thanks to the generosity of donors to the ELCA, students identified as IWL Scholars to attend Concordia will receive scholarship support to meet their full demonstrated financial need through a combination of funds from the College and the ELCA Office of Global Mission.

Work-Study

In addition to scholarships, international students are eligible to work on campus up to 20 hours per week during the school year. We estimate students will earn $3,600 per year from working an average of 10 hours per week, but some students who work as much as possible are able to earn more.
