Apple TV+ is the new home for all things Peanuts. That includes rights to stream the classic Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving specials starring Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the whole gang. In addition, new specials are in development just for this streaming service.
Many of the beloved classics will be available to all, not locked behind a paywall.
This is the only the second time Apple has added classic shows to its streaming offerings. Primarily, the company focuses on creating new programs and movies. But earlier in 2020 it acquired every season of the children’s show Fraggle Rock.
New holiday specials with Charlie Brown and Snoopy are on the way
Apple is working with WildBrain’s animation studio to create a slate of brand-new specials that will find the Peanuts gang marking Mother’s Day, Earth Day, New Year’s Eve and going back to school.
And that’s just the start of fun. Apple TV+ already announced The Snoopy Show, a series starting everyone’s favorite beagle set to premier in 2021.
And a second season of the Emmy-nominated Snoopy in Space was announced on Monday.
How to watch classic Peanuts holiday specials
The beloved Peanuts specials from yesteryear will roll out on Apple TV+ throughout the rest of 2020. And they won’t be just for subscribers to this streaming video service.
The Halloween special It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown began streaming globally on Monday, October 19, and will be available for free from October 30 until November 1 as a special treat. It’ll be in the free Apple TV app.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will debut on Apple TV+ on November 18, and the special will be available for free from November 25 until November 27.
The premiere of A Charlie Brown Christmas is December 4. But this will be an exclusive to Apple’s streaming service.
Apple TV+ offers over 40 series and movies, either new or coming soon. A subscription is $4.99 per month. Children’s programs available now include Ghostwriter and Helpsters. The animated feature film Wolfwalkers is set to debut in December.
