February 29,2020 (Khartoum) The European Union  EU announced on Saturday the allocation of 100 million euros to the transitional government in Sudan. The funding  will be used to support of peace and democratic transformation programs, as well as supporting economic opportunities for youth.

Joseph Borrell Fontells, the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and Deputy Chairperson of the European Union Commission, arrived in Khartoum Saturday for a two-day visit during which he will hold talks with transitional government officials.However, he will also visit North Darfur to meet the displaced and learn about the humanitarian needs.

For his part ,the Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdullah Hamdock, praised the position of the European Union in support of Sudan and its popular revolution for freedom, peace and justice, noting that the continued support of the European Union is a strategic support that is in the interest of Sudan and the region.

However, the European official announced the provision of (100) million euros for Sudan in addition to the previous amount of (150) million euros to become total support of (250) million euros.

The high-ranking European figure, said the 250 million euros will be utilized   to  support peace and democratic transformation programs in the country and also  fund economic opportunities for youth and economic reforms.

The visit of the European official comes after the recent visit of  Prime Minister to the headquarters of the European Union in the Belgian capital Brussels and his meeting with the High Representative of the former European Union last November.
